Chapter 4: .BOOK

Hey peeps! Let's get started for this week's topic!

Different arts made with CREATIVE DOTBOOK™ !
In life, everyone has a notebook they call their own. It can serve you for simple reasons like private journal or even jotting down tutorial notes during lessons. For some, their notebook may be their sketchbook. However so, there is a lack of individualism as our notebooks may be commonly found. Worry no more, CREATIVE DOTBOOK™  is here to save the day!

'Leggo' parts
CREATIVE DOTBOOK™ beautifully combines personalisation and creativity into one. The cover of CREATIVE DOTBOOK™ is filled with pop-out dots which is something like 'Leggo' blocks. How do we personalise the notebook? In the shop, there are small blocks that can be fitted onto the front cover itself. As creativity varies from different people, no two notebook will look exactly similar.

On top of that, CREATIVE DOTBOOK™ has words of wisdom at the bottom of every page. One of our favourites was, "all ideas originate from a dot". This is because when we jot down our ideas, the instant the pen touches the book, it marks a dot. Therefore, in a sense, all things starts with a simple dot. The pages of the books are dotted. As it is a relatively plain notebook, it has many different ways of usage.

Heres a video made by Action City, showcasing their product the CREATIVE DOTBOOK™.

Chapter 2: Intro to Retro

Hey peeps! It's us again! Are you ready for this week's topic?! This week, the Liefies are going to bring you back to the 90s. Relive the retro era with us. Let us welcome Zha Huo Dian, aka The Corner Shop.

Look at those record
Zha Huo Dian is a retro, 90s-themed apparel shop in the modern society. Zha Huo Dian carries a huge array of products; t-shirts, shirt, shorts, pants, outerwear and accessories. From it's very own graphic tees, designed by a local designer, to apparels of various labels. This shop is definitely a stop to visit during your Christmas or Chinese New Year shopping spree.

Super Duper Cool Vending Machine

As the crew walked into the store, we were welcomed by a gentle breeze of nostalgia. The interior of the shop is filled with records, figurine collectibles and antiques placed in an artistic fashion. Once again, the crew was so fascinated by the décors that we forgot our manners. Even before gaining permission, we begin fondling with the decorations and our exploration of this unfamiliar land. During our exploration, one of the first thing caught our eyes was this super duper cool vending machine. It is a mini vending machine which dispenses Coke Zero and has the shop's logo on it. On top of that, the crew came across this little innovative method of displaying products. Remember how slices of cakes are displayed in bakeries? Zha Huo Dian uses the same display but different products. Instead of cakes, Zha Huo Dian displays it's accessories in it. This draws attention of shoppers to it's products as it arouses their curiosity.

Enough of fooling around, the crew then introduced ourselves and the sales assistant welcomed us with open arms. The crew even gave our blog to the shop assistants! Then we asked for the shop's permission for the photography of their products. Fortunately, the shop was kind enough to gave us their permission! From bloggers, the Liefies transformed into impromptu models; each of us had a chance to pick an apparel and have our very own photo shoot. Let the photo shoot begin!

Smart Casual Spencer

Grey long-sleeved shirt

I decided to try on one of the many long-sleeved shirts sold in the shop. A grey long-sleeved shirt with white buttons, coupled with two front pockets and beautifully striped by the left-hand sleeve. It can be worn as a shirt or an outer wear. It looks stunning with a pair of jeans. For me, I went with a black inner shirt and jeans. Be it going out with your spouse or hanging out with your buds, this combination is suitable for any smart casual activity,

Raw Rocker Reynard
Denim jacket

As of Reynard, he decided to try on outer wears instead of shirts. Reynard picked a denim jacket. This particular denim jacket is designed with thick golden zips around the front. Together with a white polo tee on the inside, the jacket gave Reynard a very raw and rocker-like look. For, the guys, this is a fine jacket to go along with any shirts,

Handsome Nerdy Stuart
Handsome Nerdy Stuart, again

Oh, remember we said something along the lines of "we got to choose our own apparel"? This was not applicable for Stuart. The crew wanted to cover something more formal. Therefore, we picked this outfit for Stuart. For formal events, this long-sleeved white shirt and black bow tie can go together with a black formal pants. On normal occasions  this top can be paired with denim shorts to give a smart nerdy look. On top of that, this white top will look perfect with any neutral-coloured coats or blazers.

Cute Little Ivan
Cute Little Ivan

It's time for the highlight of the day, Ivan's turn. For Ivan, we wanted him to showcase Zha Huo Dian's very own graphic tee. At the same time, we did not want him to look so plain. Thus, we brought in a few accessories to 'garnish' our little boy. On Ivan, there is a Zha Huo Dian's graphic tee, Zha Huo Dian's cap, suspenders and a wrist accessory. This is the perfect concoction for a cute, little boy outlook.

Capt. Hilary

Capt. Hilary

Last but not least, it's our queen's turn. Introducing, Capt. Hilary. With a floral top inside, Hilary puts on a navy blue, sailor-like coat and a cap. This outfit is suitable for costume-themed parties. If not, ladies you may want to consider using the coat in colder shopping malls or theatres.

All in all, with its cool retro theme, Zha Huo Dian is an amazing shop. Throughout the whole process, the shop assistants were really friendly and helpful. The combination of superb interior, superior service and endless variety of products, the experience at Zha Huo Dian was indescribable  The crew had an enjoyable afternoon at the shop. The crew would like to end off the post with a big thank you to Zha Huo Dian. Thank you Zha Huo Dian, it has been a privilege to cover your shop, thank you.

With lots of love,
the Liefies

Chapter 1: Cool Food Cool Dudes

Hey peeps! This must be your first time visiting our blog. Let’s start off today’s post with a short introduction to our blog. First of all, Lief is created by 5 enthusiastic and fun-loving teens from Temasek Polytechnic’s Diploma of Marketing. It is a problog. Not a professional blog, but a project blog! In other words, our blog will be graded by our tutors. And one of our assessment criteria is the number of unique visitors it gets. This means that, the more visitors we have, the higher our grade would be. So do us a favour, will ya’? If you really love what we our posting, then please share it with your friends! Your effort to help promote our blog is very much appreciated. And for that, you have our eternal gratitude. We will be bringing you fresh and interesting content every week, so please stay tuned!

Entrance via the 1st level

The Living Room
Anylief, for our first post, we will be covering on a super duper hip restaurant in Singapore. It entered into Singapore’s F&B industry early on this year. Let’s give a warm welcome to Fullhouse Theme Cafe!

The Balcony
Do you like good food? Is your favourite hobby, shopping? Or would you like to have some ice-cold beer right after a sumptuous dinner? Fullhouse will be able to satisfy all little cravings. Fullhouse is a Victorian-themed café with a really cool concept, whereby there is a sweet combination of bistro, restaurant and retail. It is located at 9 Bras Basah Road. On the first floor, Fullhouse Bistro serves a variety of alcoholic drinks. The second floor would consist of the restaurant, serving Western cuisines, and the retail itself. Ladies, you can actually shop in the restaurant itself while waiting for the food to be served. Isn’t that great?

What the Lief-ers like to call, The Amazing Wall Lamp
Today, we, the Lief blog crew, decided to visit this unique restaurant for lunch. Fortunately, we were able to witness a wedding held at the concourse of Rendezvous Hotel. Congratulations, you love birds! Anylief, as we step into the Victorian-themed restaurant, we were greeted by friendly staffs and a luxurious-looking couch. We were asked to wait patiently in the “living room” as the waitress sets our table. Our curious and dee siao siao crew members decided to make ourselves at home on the couch. It was an unsightly scene to witness. The crew were fantasizing of having such couch at our house. The couch would have made a good spot to take a late-afternoon nap! As we wandered around, we see many delicate decors around the restaurant. Some of us were actually captivated by the wall lamps as it had minute carving details on it and it simply looks stunning!

The Study Room

Then, the crew stumbled upon the retail area, also known as the Bedroom or Master Bedroom. Like the name suggests, the retail's concept is like a bedroom, with clothes and
accessories nicely placed on the dressing table. In Fullhouse, seats by the windows are named as Balcony seats. They are located in the Balcony. This is definitely a romantic spot. Lovers out there, take note, this is a potential Valentines' restaurant!

Fullhouse not only welcome diners and shoppers, this humble restaurant welcome event organisers to hold their events here. There are actually VIP/Events rooms, AKA Study Rooms, that are available for booking. As lucky as always, the crew got to witness an actual meeting held at one of the VIP rooms. The meeting was followed by lunch catered by the restaurant itself. These rooms are geared with televisions, projectors and royalty-liked comfy sofas. Definitely our type of 'study room'.

Salmon Salad
Enough of the interior design of the restaurant, let’s talk about the food! How can we not resist such temptations?! For the appetisers, we ordered the Salmon Salad. The aesthetics of the Salmon Salad was incredible – smoked salmon rolled into rose paired with fresh sliced mangos and, beautifully finished with crisp boutique salad as garnishing. The flavour is indescribable when you combine the three together. The crispiness of the boutique salad gives this dish its texture. At the same time, the smoked salmon’s taste is skilfully brought out by the chef. To put it simply, the salmon is smoked to perfection. When first put into the mouth, the freshness of the smoked salmon would appeal to our taste buds. As you take your first bite, you would taste the sweetness and saltiness of the mango and salmon. The salad would end off with a blend yet refreshing taste could only be done by the boutique salad.

Wok-Sear Chicken Chop
Subsequently, we ordered 3 main courses. Like the saying goes, “never judge its book by its cover”. Fullhouse taught some of us that. As we were deciding on the dishes, we thought that we should try dishes that are more uncommon in the market.

Wok-Sear Chicken Chop just sounded like any ordinary chicken chop with a fanciful name. However so, as we asked the waitress for recommendations, we were told that this is actually their signature dish. Therefore, we decided to give a try. All we could say after having our first mouthful of ‘ordinary chicken chop with a fanciful name’ was, “luckily we order sia”. Yes, believe it or not, this chicken chop isn’t that ordinary after all. Once again, Fullhouse Theme Café impresses us with its delicate aesthetics.

A good slice of grilled chicken, topped with raisin jus, is gently placed above a wholesome serving of mashed potato, artistically garnished by broccoli, carrots and other vegetables. So what’s so good about this chicken chop? This slice of chicken thigh is so tender that it melts in our mouth. The sauce does not cover the taste of the chicken itself but further enhances it. A fine dish which left the crew an impression.

Pan-Sear Dory Fish
The second main course is named the Pan-Sear Dory Fish. Grilled dory fish nicely placed above a sturdy base made of siew pak choy and mashed potato, then topped with plentiful of lemon grass cream.

The taste of lemon grass may not be widely accepted as some may find it too pungent. However so, this is not the case for this particular dish! Stuart, our little boy, was never a lover of lemon grass. Due to this fact, all of us was trying to make him eat some of this. And you know what? After 30 minutes of divine persuasion (okay, this is a bit exaggerating), he took a puny bite and, you know what, he actually fell in love with it. The lemon grass cream was mild yet flavourful, enough to bring out the taste of the sea. Because of this cream, the dory fish is not sickening and it made us crave for more!

For our last main course, the crew decided to go with some carbo. Vongole Spaghetti, a butter base spaghetti complemented with clam meat, olive oil and touch of chilli flakes.

Vongole Spaghetti
This dish is an underdog. When we say its an underdog, we meant it. Initially, the crew wasn't very excited about this dish as it is fairly common in the industry. However, Fullhouse never stops to impress us. The spaghetti is perfectly prepared - it isn't too soggy, and isn't too hard. It had great texture as the noodles bounced about in your mouth. The sauce was impressive as well. The butter base isn't too heavy. At the same time, the base was put in adequate amount as the spaghetti wasn't too soaked or too dry. No surprise, the clam meat was fresh as ever. In total, the crew love this dish as it is appealed to us more than many of the pastas in Singapore.

As of the drinks, Fullhouse has a huge array of selections. From ice blended to tea, coffee and even milk shake, you name it, they have it! While looking through the menu, the crew's attention was drew to the drinks. Beautiful illustration we say!

Rose + Strawberry Magic Ball
One of the drinks was Rose + Strawberry Magic Ball. We were drawn to the name 'Magic Ball' as it was intriguing. Like the name describes, the Magic Balls were magical! As you pop one into your mouth, sit back, relax and experience an explosion of strawberry goodness and icy cold rose ice blended!

The crew had Mango + Grape Topped with Green Apple Jelly, Peppermint + Chocolate topped with Chocolate Syrup and Honey Lemon with Aloe Vera. The Honey Lemon with Aloe Vera wasn't our favourite. It had this queer taste. Maybe, we didn't knew how to appreciate this drink but yeah! Not so good!

Price-wise, the crew believe that the food in Fullhouse is the bang for the buck. The quality of food does not lose out to fine-dining restaurants or hotels. At the same time, the pricing of food is at the level of casual-dining, ranges from $12.90 to $40.

In a nutshell, Fullhouse's concept impressed all of us. We were like little kids in Disneyland as we trance into this lovely restaurant. Not only is the concept unique to Singapore's F&B industry, the food is value for the money. Be it the quality of food, aesthetic of food or the interiors of the restaurant, Fullhouse is of a superior standard to many restaurants in Singapore, comparable to fine-dining or hotel-level restaurants. Furthermore, the services provided by the waiters and waitress were more than pleasing. They were patient to our little annoyance as we brought up many questions. To sum it up, the crew had an unforgettable and awesome experience dining with Fullhouse!
